re: Spaceship Earth !

30 km/sec around the sun...

20 km/sec towards Lambda Herculis.

The sun at 218 km/sec around the galaxy.

Our galaxy at 80 km/sec towards Andromeda.

The general motion of our galaxy is towards the Leo Triplets, M96 and at a speed of 583 km/sec

But the net motion (relative to the Cosmic Background) is at 552 km/sec towards the center of Hydra.

Our Spaceship Earth travels the distance of 1 light-year in 1,400 years !!!

Well, ok, sources don't agree with all the speeds (and our motion isn't the same in january as in july), but it's the idea.
