"And just think how many millions are wasted in electricity there. I bet
a lot of those office buildings at night are fully lit with hardly anyone in
them. It's like turning the faucets on and leaving them on all night."

Point well made and well taken. It is SO easy to conserve electricity that we should need little additional capacity were we to use light wisely in the US. In Europe it's common to have auto shut off lights. Office buildings run lights all night and nearby stuff like our local Middle School have their grounds lights blazing throughout the night for little purpose.

Folks who blaze outside lights all night worried about home security would be better served by ancient 20th Century motion detector spotlights and a fine SIG by their bedside.
