This is an area with a lot of tensions. Religious, tribal, national interests are in conflict and have been seemingly forever.

Pakistan is being attacked by Americans and Afghanis, and India and Pakistan are at a perpetual near-war over Kashmir.

One of the biggest problems of Western nations and Western commentators is to regard these attacks as the product of pure evil perpetrated by people who hate freedom, democracy, and the Western way of life.

There is no cause, no reason except to spread death and destruction.

All of which guarantees the lessons will not be learned, and the carnage will continue. There is very little more important than learning about those who would challenge us, their motivations, goals, aspirations and grudges.

Because for a significant group of people these attacks were not unprovoked.
