When I was a little girl, my older sister told her girlfriend this joke:

"Woman falls out of the 5th floor window of a building and lands on a flagpole. It took them six weeks to wipe the smile off her face."

So I ask my sister what it means. She says, "Never mind and don't repeat it." So, of course, I repeat it to my mother who reprimands my sister and says, "Never mind; you'll understand when you're older."

So I'm sitting in a high school class one day and suddenly remember that joke and start laughing.

My teacher asks me to share what's so funny... I never liked Home Ec anyway.

My mother was never wrong.
