It seems to me there are a number of threats to humanity, of which asteroids are one.
Others are drug-resistant infections, global warming, population growth, the stresses of globalization, famine with associated disruptions and I'm sure many others.
Given that all of those except possibly asteroids would require international cooperation to some degree or another and some nations say they can't afford to cooperate and some nations aren't willing to compromise their national interest for the common good, what is a good way to determine the cost-benefit ratios of the various perceived problems?
And how is that "sold". It has to be clear to everyone that the US, for instance, needs sexy to sell an idea, and isn't willing to sacrifice for a common good if it will cost. The history of the US isn't to be proactive.
Other nations need sexy, too.
So what's a stragegy for determining what to attack and then selling the idea to the entire world.
