I’m surprised as to how much credit you give bin Laden

Especially since it is wrong.

Bin Laden had no idea Bush would respond to the 911 attacks as he did. In his own words he described America as soft, weak, pathetic people in love with Hollywood, driving two cars and couldn’t stomach the death of our soldiers at war. He was right about a few Americans though.

This futile assumption of bin Laden was a result of the dumbing down of our military and intelligence by Clinton and his police style response to the previous attacks in America and abroad.

What bin Laden has succeeded in is a unification of more than 90 nations agreeing to take the fight to him and his like.

Yes, Bush inherited a surplus deficit but he also inherited a recession and combined with the financial disaster 911 created did you really expect the surplus to remain? Wall Street was closed for how long? Airlines couldn’t fly. The cost to the US because of 911 was historic. I don’t have the exact quote but a Russian official said right after 911 that America was all but finished and could not recover. Who do we give credit for proving him wrong?

The 2007 deficit was 1.5% of the GDP. In 1968 it was over double that yet the deficit was only $25 billion. Get it? The national average I believe is around 2.5% of GDP.
