Think back to January, 01, 2008!

Back then, did any of you seriously consider the possibility
that an African-American would be elected President?

Did any of you foresee the likelihood of a female governor
of the State of Alaska becoming the GOP VP candidate?

Did any of you seriously consider that the economy would plunge
dramatically and unexpectedly worldwide, leading to a possible
recession or depression?

Did any of you foresee the dramatic swings in the price of a
barrel of crude oil?

[To my fellow Canucks] Did we foresee the possibility of an
arbitrary peacetime coalition government, composed of
separatists, socialists and liberals? It almost happened.

Could any of you foresee that the Lisbon Treaty, all but dead
in 2007, would be revived and ratified by means of a political end-run
this past year?

Could any of you have foreseen the brutal surge of cold-weather
in this day of Global Warming talk?

This year would read like fiction if someone wrote about it 2-3 years ago.
