I collect mine in a big paper sack in the garage, and at some point I take them to a recycle site around here that takes toxic crap. I can take paint, bug spray, and other stuff in the same trip, and I don't have to do it that often.

I don't know where you live, but if you are in any sort of urban area, there is likely to be a similar site near you. Fortunately, you can get a long time's worth of bulbs in one bag.

I've been using such bulbs in my house since the technology finally got to where the bulbs worked and the prices came down. I just object to congenital idiots telling me at gunpoint I have to use them. People were buying them, the technology was improving, and prices were dropping, without any government screwing at all.

Now my county is talking about a 25 cent penalty for using plastic bags at stores.
