re: Truman's excuse.

What wasn't realized is that the division of Korea was in the best interests of both sides. There was no way China and Russia were going to allow an American satellite on their borders which would have happened had we taken North Korea.

Neither was it an option for the Communists to take South Korea with it's proximity to Japan. So the division of Korea was done the way it was, although the public wasn't aware of that at the time.

I have to admit, that's the first time I've heard that line of crap on Korea.

So, the shiny new myth now is that North Korea never really intended to invade the South? That their advance to the Pusan Perimeter was just for fun?

Is this another part of your personal foundational theory that American military might has been and must always be futile? How far do you have to twist reality to keep your views on Vietnam alive?
