re: OK, so what would you do for them?

We are spending tax money on medical care for the poor right now. Between states and the Federal government, we spend $350 billion a year on Medicaid for the poor, and another $400 billion or so for Medicare for the elderly. In other words, every single year America spends almost as much on government medical care for those who need it as the total for this controversial "stimulus" bill.

About 15 percent of Americans are without any health insurance, including government programs. This percentage has been about the same for twenty years.

I don't accept the premise "15 percent of Americans aren't insured, THEREFORE we must nationalize the entire health care system."

I'm open for other suggestions, including changing the tax structure to make individual policies more attractive than company-supplied ones. Subsidies raise prices. Always.
