Space/Science » in reply to That famous consensus

Global issues demand global data to even begin to understand.

These straw men that keep getting set up on both sides do not prove anything. Neither does the anecdotal stuff, or the material limited to one locale.

I've been on mountains in various parts of the world and I can tell you the glaciers are retreating very, very rapidly. None that I've seen are growing. That doesn't prove global warming due to Man's influence.

However, I can also add that authorities say they are retreating much more rapidly that previous warming periods.

That still isn't definitive. It is much more indicative, though, than pointing out a snowfall occurring during a Gore speech, or ice storm in Spain or cooling in Mozambique as evidence there is no such thing as global warming.

Citing some local condition in an effort to "prove" a global issue is like finding a small town in Iowa whose main employer is a printer turning out bankruptcy forms and unemployment booklets. Business is booming, therefore there is no global recession.
