There are many interpretations of the word "life" as can be seen from the following web sites and what others have posted here.

Looking at the meaning of the word from a very simplistic viewpoint, it seems to me that when something motivates itself, it is considered to have life of its own.
When a cell uses its own internal energy to move then it is considered to be alive and if that same cell does not move by its own power it is considered to be dead.
Extrapolating from that concept, it then becomes evident that "life" is associated with kinetic energy.
Radical viewpoint perhaps, but can it be proven that kinetic energy is not part of life, or that kinetic energy does not contain the essence of life?
