Call it what it is - any of a bunch of perfectly good words that are universal:

idiocy
hatred
bigotry
murderous
callous
unthinking
unethical
inhuman

They're specific to the intent and not to the group. I think when one group gets their own special word, it leads to exactly what we're seeing which is almost a self-fulfilling prophesy. You point out that you're different and persecuted and people start wondering why often leading up to prejudice that wasn't there in the first place.

(Note: I am not saying that the word causes bigotry by itself so please don't twist this. It would exist even without the term.)
