Space/Science » in reply to CO2 Observer Failure (Taurus XL issue - fairing)

Is fairing separation still an art or we will finally get the engineering right?

Seems like the technology and engineering for fairing separation should be fairly well known and standardized. I think it is time (21st century) that this becomes an extremely rare failure. Still seems like this is a high risk operation and I think it is time that we control this risk through proper engineering and test so we no longer read about 370M satelites being lost (in this manner).
