my darling's commercial collection
"That's a wrap."
The studio is bright and clean. My honey, Brooke Alexander, has just finished up another spot to try and save the American economy from the Obama administration. I wait for her in my just finished SDAI armored (B6 + level) 09 Hummer H2 that gets a whopping 8 mpg.
She exits the Hollywood soundstage, still wearing her trademark black pantsuit. I reach over and push open the heavy door for her. Brooke climbs up authoritatively.
I look at her with a naughty look in my eye, "Tell me more about energy consumption."
She turns and smiles, "You have to spend money to get a big pay off."
"I see. How about dinner at the Milky Way. I can get us in on short notice and they make a great spinach crepes." (Steven Spielberg's mom owns the place;-)
"I was thinking of something a bit more lively - say Dolce."
"I see."
I'm no big fan of Dolce, they are ridiculously expensive and I'm not really in the mood for Italian food, but I acquiesce. My mind creates an awesome Dolce & natural gas joke, but I know I can't use it. Actresses always like to be seen. Before I realize what she is doing Brooke takes off her black blazer and unbuttons the top button on her blouse.
"Is it hot in here?"
I can tell she's not lived in the desert. 80 degrees? That's not even warm enough to put on the AC.
"That would be you."
I can't tell if she didn't catch the compliment or is ignoring it. I turn the AC on full blast. The engineers tore out the lame factory R12 system and equipped this with a sweet freon based system that is good even in 125 degree desert heat.
"Aaah that feels so good." She extends her hands towards the vent panels.
"You haven't felt anything yet..."
Brooke turns to me and smiles. "Remember energy conservation permits greater energy expenditures later."
"I see."
Suddenly I spot ER cruising in the lane next to me. He is waving out his window for me to pull over.
"What's his problem?" she asks.
"Oh that's an acquaintence of mine - he's your biggest fan, next to me...he probably just wants your autograph."
I pull over and ER pulls in right behind us. I get out and greet ER. My date steps out and hops down from the chrome-plated step/nerf bar.
"Brooke this is ER, ER this is Brooke Alexander."
ER is grinning wildly, "I became a proponent of off-shore drilling after I saw your commercials."
"Is that so?" Brooke smiles.
"Yes, I have a boat which I reserve for offshore explorations."
"I see."
"Well, I'll let you two go. It was really nice to meet you Brooke. I'm a big fan of the American Petroleum Institute. Oh...you better watch out for Tech1 - don't let him pull any gorgonzola on you!"
"Oh, don't worry ER, I know exactly how to handle Tech1, but HOW did you know! I love Italian!"
"I'll bet you do."
ER walks back to his car, chuckling. and I turn and hold the door open for Brooke.
"He seemed to be a very nice, conservative gentleman..."
I only smile.
