Why, why is such a natural and common, even wholesome, bodily function held in such disrepute? And invariably, whenever one materializes, it is greeted with such laughter. You know Chaucer thought it was funny, the ancient Greeks thought it was funny, no doubt the cavemen thought it was funny.
Flatulence is God's laughter, it is his way to remind us that no one takes our airs (that might be a poor choice of words) seriously; and our righteous indignation is a sham and deserves to be met with a proud venting, and a hearty belly laugh.
