Mark -
I'm glad you finally understand my position and concerns.
Here's what I'd like.
First, we need to get the Congressional ban on NASA study of manned Mars flight systems lifted, but capped at a very "small" amount. I'm talking here less than 10 million dollars or so per year.
Second, I'd like to see Dr. Aldrin and Zubrin hired in a small advanced concepts section, along with a top trans-planetary mechanic and about two other people: one for propulsion systems, especially including solar thermal, and a second person for closed loop life support systems.
Throw in supporting staff, and miscellaneous, and that's my number - less than $10 million per year.
NAIC may be the best place for such an office.
