You can send links in Hotmail by copying and pasting urls which become clickable in an email.
If you want to create a link like we do here, you have to switch html "on" by using "edit in html". Just took me a little while to figure this out.
I have never got a virus through hotmail.
Spam is non-existent, but I do use a Yahoo address just for registrations. All spam lands there.
