Losing the past
As I recall, a crash did occur at the end of Clinton's term. And the 2001 recession following the dot.com collapse? It was universally referred to by the media as the "Bush Recession," of course. You can find plenty of references to it.
I do recognize how malleable history is around here. The "past" isn't lost. It's effectively re-engineered on almost a daily basis.
