Current Events » in reply to Coming to a conclusion about why people voted for Trump

I have noticed...

...that in older archival interviews with Trump, he seems much more articulate and rational, his speech delivered in neutral accents, and frankly, he sounds a lot smarter than he does now. His English lately seems to have deteriorated into some sort of generic non-Manhattan NYC borough accent and phrasing, mostly delivered in a Queens cadence. Perhaps someone more familiar with Big Apple dialects can pin-point it more precisely for me.

Is this a natural progression, or a deliberate ploy to attract new followers?

Still, I really think we're spending entirely too much time worrying about Trump. If he should be gone tomorrow, say, due to impeachment or illness, our troubles will only be starting. Trump's departure will only set off a scramble to control his coalition. A lot of people will emerge to use his style in order to court his followers and achieve their agenda. And they will not all be boors, thugs, and ignoramuses.
