In the 1970s, commercial fusion was only about 20 years away.
In the 1980s, commercial fusion was only about 30 years away.
In the 1990s, commercial fusion was only about 40 years away.
In the 2000s, commercial fusion now is only about 50 years away.
The horizon is receding faster than the surface of a black hole. In fact, fusion resembles a black hole in that vast quantities of money are poured into fusion, yet not one iota of electricity has ever been generated, and the goal of commercial fusion slips further into the future. It is time to drop it completely.
