I see the projector and camera bulk as the main thing inhibiting this. Nobody wants the world seeing you google the folks around you. When this can be incorporated into a stylish set of glasses it will be something people will buy. Privacy matters.
As for the scan, that was pure hypothetical. I guess once Google gets done indexing the world, they might decide its time to index every man woman and child as well. :)
