My 10 year old son came home yesterday upset that America had dropped two atomic bombs on Japan in WWII. He wanted to know why America is such a bad country.
Apparently they were reading a story told from a Japanese girl’s point of view on the atomic bombings.
First of all, I think 4th grade is a little young to be teaching that subject. Second, I don’t have a problem of him being taught the Japanese point of view(When he is old enough to grasp it). But he needs to be taught America’s point of view as well. There were good reasons the bombs were used, but the teacher failed to mention that.
Last week his teacher also got into a rant about how bad Bush was and what a savor Obama has been. I really like his teacher, but I wish she would keep her political views out of the classroom.
And also last week, my poor son was too scared to sleep. Apparently, the Librarian read them some story about a serial killer. What is wrong with these people? They are 4th graders! And why is a writer writing such a story for kids?
Rant about my son's school.
