These people fascinate me, probably because I have to be on guard to avoid some of those pitfalls myself.

Guys like that, narcissistic to the extreme, believe that they can excuse everything they do. If you only understood the circumstances, the facts, you'd have to agree. They are never wrong.

"Communicating" to them means to keep at you until you agree with them. If they have explained something 20 different ways and you still don't agree, they call it a failure to communicate. The idea that anyone could have a different view of a situation is beyond them. They truly don't understand how others think. (I have a tendency toward this, and have to check myself from time to time. My success at it is varied.)

This is the sort of person who will tell you how to build a grandfather clock if you ask them the time. They want you to know what they did, why they did it and how smart it was. And that while other people doing the same thing are evil bastards, if you only understood their situation and motives you'd understand.

And this guy has 14+ years to figure it out.
