A friend of mine bought a similar telescope long ago and was ripped off.

The damned clock drive on the equatorial mount used 120 VAC power. What an utter crock! Unless you live in the deep countryside, you will need to use this scope far from city lights. Of course, you might just carry along a 100 km extension cord. Ordinary DC to AC inverters may NOT provide sufficient time stability for a clock drive.

Clearly, a worthwhile telescope needs a battery powered mount that uses standard batteries and has a quartz clock built-in. I love the fact that this one runs on ordinary "C" batteries that you can buy anywhere if you happen to find that the ones in the drive are dead and you haven't brought along a spare set.

My only problem with this beauty is that I can't afford it.
