Remember the Conservative stance on negotiation.
Sadly, they regard negotiation as a sign of weakness. It's black-and-white, and one does not negotiate with badguys. "My way or the highway" is their stance, and destroys any pretense of bipartisanship.
It's just not possible to work with people who have no respect for anyone else.
