Biofuels emit ZERO net carbon dioxide.
That is because plants obtain all of their carbon from the atmosphere. Hence, growing plants, converting them to fuel, and burning the fuel has no effect whatsoever on carbon dioxide levels.
Fossil fuels, to the contrary, are obtained not from the atmosphere, but from the ground, where they have been buried for millions of years.
