Nature is merciless. Read "Origin of Species".

Each day, vast amounts of energy are captured by plants and photobacteria from sunlight. Each day huge quantities of carbon dioxide are fixed by these life forms. Yet, from day to day, the quantity of life as measured in fixed carbon does not increase. For each kilogram fixed, another is metabolized and oxidized back into carbon dioxide.

Each year, animals produce a great many young. Yet there is no long-term increase in the populations of animal species. Hence, MOST of the young must die without reproducing.

If population gets out of equilibrium, it will automatically be brought back into equilibrium. That is true for all species, including our own. Hence, the proliferation of new human diseases. Many areas of Africa have ceased population growth due to diseases that will inevitably spread to the rest of the Earth. This will continue until the population of Humanity reaches an equilibrium with the carrying capacity of the planet. My prediction is that the human population will peak very soon and begin to fall to an ultimate level of one billion or less, perhaps much less. It certainly CANNOT continue to grow indefinitely.

So? This is hardly new.
