The data available seems endless - "ATLAST, a replacement for Hubble?"

"The James Webb Space Telescope is a next-generation observatory scheduled for launch in 2013, which is just about the time when Hubble is due for retirement. And then what? Scientists at the Space Science Institute, which manages Hubble, are lobbying for the "Advanced Technology Large Aperture Space Telescope", which could produce images five to 10 times sharper than Webb’s, with a sensitivity 2,000 times that of Hubble. The instrument would be capable of detecting signatures of life elsewhere in the galaxy and probing questions about star formation, dark matter and other mysteries of the universe. ATLAST is among dozens of next-generation astronomy missions currently under consideration. If approved, it would launch in the 2025-2035 time period. A conceptual drawing of an 8-meter telescope is shown here."

It almost seems that all the data needed to answer all the questions is available in the local area. Awaiting only detection and interpretation, the Universe has left a trail like a bear through the woods. There are no secrets, only veils.
