Apparently the official length is hard to pin down. Estimates range from 2000 ft, (TB's number), to about 3 miles long.

This is the most definitive answer I found

Tech junkies, start your engines!

Galactica = 1.445 kilometers/4,740 feet/.89 miles

Pegasus = 1.79 kilometers/5,872 feet/1.11 miles

I wonder how many bets will be resolved or thousands of hours of nerd work destroyed by these figuresâ€¦
