The Air France Airbus had probes indicating conflicting data and the conflict destabilized the plane which sent it spinning out of control.
Extremely complex systems require training and a good knowledge ; sometimes they fail and sometimes the human factor neglects paying a particular attention to them.
OTOH, the huge amount of data does help detect the origin of the problem, even in the absence of the black boxes.
