Absolutely, I can't dispute your observations. I installed the software and just turned on most of the features, as a way of "advertising" what's there to see if Zoners could think of a use for the stuff. I anticipate that it'll be pared back as we decide what to keep and what to lose. There's no organization by subject matter (which the software couldn't have known out of the box, anyway), so by default it's all organized by feature (forums, blogs, articles, etc.), which is the worst possible organization. I expect a subject-based architecture to emerge soon.
I made the mods, plus Tom on a whim, members of a security group called "Editors", which has broad privileges to get in and change things. Looks like people have started taking the initiative, and they're beginning to set up boards and organize things.
The Editors group isn't restricted to moderators, I figure that during this phase, anybody who wants to help build the place is very welcome indeed. We need all the help we can get. Want in, Bowser? That way, you can have a direct influence over the useability of the end result.

You're right
