re: I wonder how they will handle these potential impactors from space?

I said in 2004 when Asteroid Aphophis was discovered to have a possible threat of collision in 2029 and 2036 that the world Gov's are busy behind the scenes developing what to do in the case this turns out to be a viable threat. I said i'd devote time watching carefully of any kind of activity or hints that tell me they are concerned.

This hush up news is one hint
Plans to develop a probe to fly out and study Apophis is another hint.

As the years go by I expect more events showing concern.

They just don't know. The 2029 pass will tell us if 2036 is safe or if we will have collision.
Also not to worry, by that time a system will be in place to deter any threat.
