The area has no sunlight at all?

I assumed the landing area would be similar to our arctic or higher latitudes where the sun would just be a speck traveling around the horizon during the winter months. Are they that close to the pole that they get no sun at all?

If they don't I guess the best shot at a photo of the ice coverage would be as winter is winding down and the sun is just peeking back into the area and before the ice has disappeared.
