NBC led off with the very bad econony in California.
CBS and ABC both led off with Michael Jackson stories.
Talking about him will make money for decades, so expect this latest
news mania to go on for months at least, with occasional eruptions of
new "news" and lost songs found.
I remember the Jackson 5 cartoon show on Saturday mornings in the
early 1970s, my first exposure to MJ and his brothers music. I will admit
I like a fair number of his songs and I especially enjoyed Weird Al's
versions of some of MJ's songs and their videos. Apparently MJ got
quite a kick out them himself, unlike Prince who never allowed Al to
parody anything he did.
But then he went off the deep end somewhere. How many remember that
when he performed at the White House in 1984, he locked himself in the
bathroom and would not come out until Ronald Reagan himself had to
implore him to leave.
Just bizarre. And yet he could sway crowds of millions.

I actually watched the evening news of the three major networks last night
