So what will the new post-Trump world look like? An isolated Anglo-American Alliance straddling the North Atlantic? A New Chinese Empire in Asia? A Pacific Rim maritime alliance headed by Japan, S Korea, Singapore and Taiwan? Russia and the West faced off in Europe and a new Iron Curtain?
Where will the Middle East wind up? And what about the world's poor relations, South America and Africa? Meanwhile, where will the new, rising great powers fit in all this: India, Brazil, Iran?
Barring catastrophe like nuclear war or eco-disaster, America will not fade away, but it may never regain its former world prominence, which lasted from WWII to the present (not a bad run if you think about it). The world will look very different for the next generation, but just how it will look is anyone's guess.
I see attempts already to establish new axes of power and influence--and new fracture zones and shatterbelts are materializing as well. The Russians see a world centered on a navigable Arctic Ocean, which they will control. The Chinese are trying to control the Western Pacific and re-establish the ancient Silk Road trade route which stretched across Asia from China to the Mediterranean. Iran wants leadership of a Shia Renaissance in the MidEast, and India will feel increasingly cut off from world trade and politics.
