Doppler Shifts & Planetary Detection
Most readers here are quite familiar in principal with the doppler shift planetary detection methods in use for nearly the past two decades, but I for one did not quite appreciate the minute magnitudes of the spectral line shifts detected until I read this brief article which illustrates the shifts graphicly. It's easy to oversimplify the exacting and precise nature of data acquisiton, propensity for error and carefull analysis required on the cuting edge of science. Kudos to Mayor, Queloz et. al. for their diligent and excellent work. It's certainly enriched my life.
