"Reform" is basically a code word for "nationalization." Nobody's really kidding anyone on that.
If you want real reform, I have listed real reforms elsewhere that will start to bring market forces back into the system, which is the best way to actually rein in costs.
Nothing the government runs ever ends up being cheaper or more efficient. Obama keeps trying to establish as an undebatable premise that somehow costs will be lower for the same services if the government is running things. Look around. Look at the DoD. NASA. Government construction projects. Education.
Does anyone else remember how inexpensive Medicare was predicted to be?
The BASIC PREMISE everyone is arguing from is indefensible. The Congressional Budget Office said it yesterday, in almost those words. Obama repeating the "lower costs" mantra over and over again isn't going to change anything.
