Interesting update on scramjet plans...
Scramjets Promise Space-travel for All
...as hyped as ever, but nice to see them progressing. There's still the matter of developing light-weight thermal protection material, but maybe the SHARP alloys can do that.
Of course, as the article notes, the other ingredient of cheap space-access is having enough flights per year per vehicle to drive down the costs. The Shuttle would've cost 1/10th of what it did cost to operate if it had flown as often as originally proposed - 60 times a year - but the technology wasn't up to such a cracking pace.
