My AirPort Extreme is in my office, at the far end of the house from the living room, and my kids complained for a long time about the signal disappearing halfway through the house. Before our midwest trip, I coughed up for a little AirPort Express, which allowed me to take my relatives' broadband hookups and make them into household WiFi. When I got home, I installed an outlet in an upstairs ceiling box that used to power a 110-V smoke detector (since replaced by a more advance battery job nearby). Plugged in the Express, told it to be a relay, and bingo! WiFi all around now, even in the backyard. When my son leaves home, I'll leave the WiFi installed, but it's going to be just sitting there, mostly. My machines are hardwired with Ethernet cable, and so is my wife's (installed back when wireless still sucked).
Finally installed an AirPort relay
