I do recall folks bringing out old sketches of similar markings on the
clouds of Jupiter around the time of Shoemaker-Levy 9 by early astronomers
who made drawings of them.

Anyone have the details on those historical records?

Is Jupiter the Great Vacuum Cleaner of the Sol system, or does it also
tend to fling objects our way as well?
