Mozilla, although a non-profit, makes money in various ways and has about 200 employees.
According to the classic liberal ideology, a monster near-monopoly like Microsoft should have blown them out of existence a long time ago, probably by having the Mozilla team killed by ninjas.
Instead, while Microsoft has the larger share, Firefox, a little non-profit, is doing just fine in an open market, and I suspect would still be doing just fine even without recent antitrust noises (currently mostly in Europe).
Mozilla's company goals are not the same as Microsoft's, but there is obviously plenty of room for both, and people are making their own choices.
