Are you surprised that the media started talking up the economy after the election was safely past? I've been watching them cherry-pick the statistics for years. They're just picking different ones, now. Remember when none of the jobs created under Bush were "good jobs?" All of them will be now, although right now the media still has us in the "slowing pace of decline" mode.

The CBO said back in February that the economy would improve by 2010 if we did nothing at all. Only about 8 percent of the famous "stimulus package" (now being referred to as a "stabilization" package) has actually been spent. I would propose that the current failure of the Democrats to enact some of their favorite socialist wet dreams is probably doing more for the economy right now than the "stimulus" is.

Still, for the next couple of years we'll be hearing all about how Obama's stimulus saved the day, and no matter what the economy actually does, we will hear--unprovably--how much worse everything would have been without it.
