There are about 10,000 people living in this western Canadian town,
only 40 miles form the border, I now call home.
This town of Nelson in summer has more than its fair share of crazy cats in dyed hair,
hippie clothing, and marijuana-induced craziness.
But it ain't nothin' compared to New York City.
Even Philadelphia doesn't match the craziness of the eccentrics in NYC.
I was reading a magazine on a coffee table that mentions cross-trail bikers
in north Manhattan where bike trails pass through trash-filed greenbelt zones where
hookers and crackheads roam.
One cyclist said this:
"One day a man appeared down the hill singing opera, naked.
He grabbed a handful of leafy vines, wrapped himself like Adam, and sashayed off.
Unaware his loins were swathed in poison ivy.
This town I live in now has nothin' on NYC.
