The Kepler guys have to be really excited

How much fun is it to have new data every month or so, that you know contains evidence for new extrasolar planets? Of course, I'm sure they're busy refining their programs to sift the large mass of information. But you know, some stuff will be pretty obvious. I'm sure they're loading the pipelines for the complimentary radial velocity spectral measurements.

It would be interesting for them to release raw numbers of candidates by category. How many stars are showing variation, how many have shown daily, weekly, monthly periodic variations by a chart? I think they have about 3 months of data, so the chart could be filled in up to about a month period. If they did that, we would get some idea what the scope of the verification issues are. We might also start to see if there are any patterns in the frequency of variabilty versus the time of variability.

I've got great anticipation for the first major Kepler release (scheduled for early next year).
