Yes, and MOST of these "stimulus" programs will stay forever.

Redundant Federal Agencies

It is nearly impossible to reduce or eliminate an agency or program once it has been started, since that would abolish jobs. Of recent presidents, only Ronald Reagan had the courage to abolish federal programs and jobs, and even he eliminated damned few of them.

Look at the official list of Federal programs here: http://www.usa.gov/Agencies/Federal/All_Agencies/index.shtml

Redundant Federal Agencies

Clearly, many of these, if not most could be eliminated without loss to the country.

My personal favorites for budget slashing or total abolition (shown by *) are: (some are listed more than once under different names, some are sub-agencies of agencies listed elsewhere)

Administration for Native Americans (Native Americans are just ordinary citizens. Federal "protection" has been a total disaster to them)

Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Interagency Coordinating Committee

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives

Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) renowned for its corruption

Bureau of International Labor Affairs

Chief Financial Officers Council

Chief Human Capital Officers Council

Chief Information Officers Council

Civilian Radioactive Waste Management

Commission of Fine Arts

Commission on International Religious Freedom

Committee on Foreign Investments in the United States

Community Planning and Development

Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US CERT)

Congressional Research Service

Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention

Denali Commission (Alaska)

Department of Agriculture (USDA)

Department of Commerce (DOC)

Department of Education (ED)

Department of Energy (DOE) *total abolition suggested, Clearly a totally useless agency.

Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) pretty damned useless

Department of Justice (DOJ)

Department of Labor (DOL) *total abolition suggested

Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)

Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) *totally worthless

Economic Research Service

Economic, Business and Agricultural Affairs (part of State Department)

Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy *totally worthless

Energy Information Administration

Export-Import Bank of the United States

Faith-Based and Community Initiatives Office

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) *total abolition suggested. Clearly a totally useless agency. When emergencies arose, Depertment of Defense actually DID what FEMA was supposed to do.

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (part of DOE, suggested for total abolition)

Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight

Federal Housing Finance Board

Federal Interagency Committee on Education

Federal Interagency Council on Statistical Policy

Housing and Urban Development Department (HUD)

Housing Office (HUD)

Japan-United States Friendship Commission
