Did I ever tell you about the time my cat Mittens was playing with *something* in my sons' pile of toy traintracks? You know that look and the body language they display when they are in the "I don't really know what the hell that is yet but damn it looks like fun" look. I walked over to the pile of toys and began to sift through them. Mittens relaxed her stance and looked at me with the "Oh good..you are here to help me scour this mighty mountain of rubble for the *thing*"!!

Well, it was a snake. Mind you, Jody does not go nose to nose with snakes to see if their eyes are slanted or round. Nope...not gonna do it...wouldn't be prudent. Hell I don't know one snake from a another. It so happens that my son had a pet garter snake..Sammy. So I just figured Sammy got loose. I picked up the snake...Mittens' hopes of a death match slowly diminishing...and I carry it to my son's room. THEN it hit me..'What if this wasn't Sammy?" "What if this not a garter snake?"...you know those special effects moments in movies, where the hall elongates and you never reach the end?

Yeah..yeah..it was Sammy...whew
