as anecdotes go

this one is very interesting but not particularly pertinent to the health care debate.

The interesting part:

Huntingtons can go undiagnosed but it is somewhat baffling that a Dr would never think of testing himself for the disease.

Other than clinical trials the treatment I found available is as follows:

diet and supplements
exercise
spiritual and psychosocial support

Physicians are counseled throughout their education to provide for retirement hard times but human nature si what it is and stuff happens.

It is a sad story but in the end he is probably just about as well of as he would have been under UHC. The failure to diagnose could have happened anyway and there is not much treatment available. As for spending a fortune on continuing diagnosis, I would have to see it to believe it.

His financial condition is a completely different story and has little to do with health care imo. He lived the grasshopper life instead of the ant, as many of us do.
