Just when the Middle East was divided and powerless, and less of a threat to us...
Donald Trump has given to them an issue they can rally around against us. He has provided a distraction from the inequities and injustice rampant in the Muslim world and made it possible to divert that frustration and anger to us, instead.
But "arson" may not be the right metaphor. Arson is usually carried out for a reason, perhaps an evil one, but a reason nonetheless; such as insurance fraud or sabotage, or just plain malice.
This is just geopolitical vandalism.
