Trump is profoundly, and *obviously* unfit for office. And not just the presidency...he'd be a disaster in pretty much any elected position. He lacks intellect and curiosity, he's devoid of the compassion and wisdom that turns a manager into a leader, he has no understanding at all of how the public sector can play a positive, meaningful role in society. His 70 years have granted him essentially nothing that's either useful or desirable in a president.
But he does have a lot in common with a lot of Americans. He's proudly xenophobic. His idea of a counter-argument begins with personal insult. He's unabashedly inarticulate, and distrustful of learned people. He lies as easily as he breathes. And those are exactly the qualities his supporters love in him.
